A new research article was published last week in the journal Biochemistry. The study presents a new x-ray crystal structure of the regulatory domain of the Kef channel bound to Adenosine Monophosphate (AMP) (PDB 5NC8). The new structure is supported by physiological, analytical and computational data to conclude that AMP is essential for structural integrity and function of the Kef potassium channel.
