We welcome Xinyu Liu a new PhD student in the Pliotas group. Xinyu will investigate tension sensitivity in integral membrane proteins including ion channels and pumps. To this end, he will primarily use EPR spectroscopy to develop a platform in order to detect and test mechanosensitivity in membrane proteins at a molecular detail resolution. Xinyu will also use CryoEM to obtain structures of novel tension-sensitive membrane protein states. All members of the Pliotas group wish Xinyu the very best of success in his new, challenging and exciting scientific adventure.
